JOEL LANDAU

Joel Landau is an accomplished healthcare entrepreneur dedicated to providing optimum care to seniors in nursing homes throughout New York. Leveraging cutting-edge technology and a first-rate staff, Landau has a distinguished record ensuring positive patient experiences and the best possible outcomes.

The Allure Group was born of Joel Landau’s own personal experience. Finding that the care his ailing grandfather received fell short of his expectations, Landau endeavored to create a healthcare network that combined the comprehensive care and integrated programs of for-profit nursing homes with the mission-driven and community-minded approach of nonprofits.

Joel Landau saw his dream come to fruition in 2012, when he opened The Allure Group’s first facility. Since then, Landau and his team have repeatedly overhauled existing facilities and transformed them into top-notch nursing homes and rehab centers. There are now six facilities in The Allure Group’s network.

Innovation is paramount to Joel Landau’s mission, and he has long integrated the latest technology with proven approaches to maximize patients’ quality of life while coordinating with health plans to minimize costs. Residents at the King David Center Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, like the others throughout The Allure Group’s network, benefit from the following:

  • PadinMotion technology — a Samsung tablet accessible from all 1,400-plus beds in The Allure Group’s facilities, providing residents with entertainment options and the ability to contact loved ones;
  • EarlySense — a remote monitoring system that enables staff to track residents’ vital signs and body movements through sensors placed under mattresses;
  • Telemet RYK — a monitoring system geared specifically toward cardiac patients;
  • Vis A Vis — a telehealth solution allowing patients to make a virtual doctor’s visit following discharge from one of The Allure Group’s facilities, via a hand-held device.

Joel Landau firmly believes in community-minded management, where residents’ quality of life is always the primary goal. As part of King David Center’s short-term rehabilitation, long-term care and skilled nursing services, the facility offers residents access to The Allure Group’s 365 Advantage program. Under Landau’s leadership, the program combines the amenities of a five-star hotel with state-of-the-art care, featuring the latest technology and expert healthcare professionals.

King David Center’s specialty services include the Longevity Garden, designed to meet the needs of our Chinese residents. It is staffed by nurse managers fluent in various Chinese dialects (as well as English), and features bilingual recreational activities and programs, authentic Chinese cuisine and various media offerings (print and broadcast) in Chinese.

In addition, King David Center features the Romashka Gardens Program, which is geared toward patients of Russian descent. That means Russian and Kosher cuisine is prepared and served daily, Jewish and religious services are offered in Russian and Yiddish, and Russian publications and television channels are available.

King David Center also participates in The Allure Group’s Hearts in Motion cardiac program, which was developed in concert with NYU Langone’s Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation. On-site cardiologists deliver top-notch care to patients facing heart illness, part of an initiative that also includes improvement protocols and educational programs designed to improve lifestyle choices.

Residents at The King David Center also benefit from Minds in Motion, The Allure Group’s neurological rehabilitation program whereby specially trained teams of physicians, physiatrists, nurses and staff provide comprehensive care to those recovering from such conditions as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) and ALS.

Finally, King David Center supplies orthopedic care to those who have undergone joint replacement surgery or are recovering from a broken bone, as well as those suffering from such conditions as arthritis or osteoporosis.

Joel Landau is also a co-founder of Pinta Capital Partners, a healthcare private equity investment firm geared toward the industry’s lower middle market, including managed long-term care, behavioral healthcare, skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living and memory care.
